Botswana and Angola have officially joined the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) as National Affiliate Members, marking a significant step in strengthening the organisation’s international representation across key diamond-producing nations.
During the recently concluded WFDB International Summit in Gaborone, Botswana, Mr. Mehul Shah, Vice President of the Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB), met with Botswana’s Minister of Minerals and Energy, Bogolo Joy Kenewendo, and presented the official Bharat Diamond Bourse postal stamp to the minister.
Mr. Shah congratulated Botswana on successfully hosting the summit and expressed appreciation for the growing relationship between India and Botswana within the diamond sector.
Commenting on the development, Mr. Shah said the inclusion of Botswana and Angola broadens WFDB’s global participation and further strengthens engagement between producing nations and international manufacturing communities.
He also noted that the summit provided an opportunity to discuss deeper collaboration and present the Bharat Diamond Bourse Stamp during his interaction with the minister.
The WFDB International Summit brought together senior government representatives, industry leaders and stakeholders from across the natural diamond value chain to discuss changing market dynamics and emerging consumer expectations.
Organised in collaboration with Botswana’s Ministry of Minerals and Energy under the theme “Nation-Building and the Future of Responsible Luxury”, discussions focused on provenance, beneficiation, transparency, sustainability and strengthening confidence in natural diamonds.
